Two species I believe to be Diogmites.
This one is from the Peperpot plantation near Paramaribo.
March 2018
Is species id possible?
Number 2 in next thread.

Blepharepium cajennensis coarctatum - male. Looks just like a Diogmites but differs in lacking scutellar marginal bristles, venation & prosternum. All Blepharepium mimic Polistes wasps.

Thank you for the id Eric.
I see that you consider B. coarctatum as a subspecies of B. cajennensis (as in 1973 revision by Papavero and Bernardi ?). Most sources however still seem to consider them as being two separate species. Are they lagging behind for 45 years or is this revision still debated?

DJHiker,
Sorry -- seeing this late: I'm still following this 1973 revision, as I'm not aware of newer research on genus... Please advise me if I've missed something! (Some of S. Amer. species known to be extremely variable in coloration.) Cheers, Eric.
