Hello!

There is a Syrphidae on the photo in a very difficult perspective for identification. However, is it possible to identify this fly?

Its length was about 5 mm and it sat on a meadow near Hanover, Lower Saxony, Germany.

Greetings, Freddy...

... at least the genus, maybe???

I would say female Melanostoma scalare. Telling by the concave curved spots on the abdomen and the dusted face (a bit difficult to see here)
