This 4mm fly was photographed today in Cape Town, South Africa. I would like to confirm the family please. I have posted previous Coenosia flies and they were sexed by the experts also. Yes, it is Coenosia, again female. Sexex in Ceonosia and K most easily differ by shape of abdomen, fatty and with pointed tip in female, narrower and with blunted tip in male. You can train yourself using our Gallery's Coenosiini images where sex is indicated.
