Photographed this approx 6mm fly in Still bay, South Africa over the past weekend. I thought it was Anthomyia when I photographed it but having studied the photographs I'm not so sure now. I count 4 rather than 3 post sutural Dorsocentrals? Could this be Muscidae, Limnophora perhaps? There is a lot more orange on the legs than I am used to seeing in the Anthomyia I usually photograph. Any advice here would be appreciated. Thanks Philip 6 Photos: Flippie attached the following image: ![]() [187.72Kb] |

Not, it is Muscidae. I think it is male of Phaonia annulipes Stein, 1906.
