The fly body length is slightly larger than 1cm. Could this be Anthrax sp.? It looks very close to Anthrax sticticus Anthrax binotatus However, the checklist (PDF: 163 KiB) from Zoological Survey of India, lists only the following: 42. Anthrax argentiapicalis Brunetti, 1912 43. Anthrax bigoti (Brunetti, 1892) 44. Anthrax ceylonicus (Zaitzev, 1988) 45. Anthrax distigma (Wiedemann, 1828) 46. Anthrax gestroi Brunetti, 1912 47. Anthrax indicatus Nurse, 1922. 48. Anthrax institutus Walker, 1852 49. Anthrax niveicaudus Brunetti, 1920 50. Anthrax obscurifrons Brunetti, 1909 Can somebody please confirm if this is Anthrax sp.? Thanks |

This should be tribe Anthracini, not Villini Unfortunately, Bombyliidae from India are completely unknown to me and I haven't keys from there Still it is extremely similar to Palearctic Anthrax .
