Hi,

is this Chalcosyrphus nemorum? I'm not sure about it and unfortunately I only have this single picture.

Maybe someone here is familiar with that genus.

Thanks in advance.

Chalcosyrphus nemorum is difficult to separate from Xylota abiens. The hind femora of the latter are not expanded towards the apex, those of C. nemorum show an expansion (well visible in https://www.flick...435796193/). Focusing on the upper hind femur in your picture, I would agree with C. nemorum...

Aha! That's a good link indeed. Thank you very much - there's no doubt about C. nemorum then.
