Hello all,

I am new to this area and wondered whether it would be possible to narrow down the id from this photo (awaiting delivery of Stubbs, Geller-grim to have a go myself).

It was taken in Berkshire, England on June 3rd 2007.
Atop some bracken on the ancient woodland edge of a valley mire in a lowland heath site, approx 15-20mm in length.

Many thanks for any time spared,
Darren.

Hello Tony,
Thanks for the welcome and having a look - glad you liked the pic (was my fave of an overcast day). I can see myself getting hooked on Asilidae; aesthetically superb and highly predatory, what more could you ask for?
Ta,
Darren.
