Horseshoe hoverfly

This one has a remarkable horseshoe pattern on its abdomen, but I haven't been able to find images on the internet of similar looking species. Another Toxomerus, I think, possibly the male to go with the female in the other shot. Look for the notch in the back of the eye. Toxomerus is the most common genus with a notch. |
