Could it be perhaps an Eliozeta pellucens?

or perhaps Clytiomya continua - I haven't seen either species in the field and they are quite tricky to split even in the keys. Theo might have a better idea though Smile

The species are not too difficult, as long as you don't try to understand the matter at a generic level.
The third antennal segment is elongated, excluding Clytiomyia continua. The arista appears to be thickened at base only, which excludes Heliozeta pellucens.
The colouration, quite orange with yellowish wingbase support the conclusion:
male Heliozeta helluo

(which Chris doesn't have in the UK, to make things more difficult)
