We can see the scutum with the lateral postsutural black spot broadly confluent with the small black spot above wing base…..so not Anthomyia pluvialis. Photographed in Germany, it is most likely Anthomyia procellaris. In Germany we also have Anthomyia imbrida, which can look on outer characteristics as A. procellaris, but has about 9-15 ad setae on the hindtibia and A. procellaris has 5-9 ad setae on t3. Those setae are not visible on your photo. By the way….A. procellaris is still not reported for Germany, despite the common presence in all surrounding countries. So I would save it for now as Anthomyia cf. procellaris, to be 100% sure you have to collect the specimen. Johanna |

Hello Johanna, javanerkelens wrote: By the way….A. procellaris is still not reported for Germany that is strange... Similar looking flies were very common here in northwest Germany last year from April to August. ![]() ![]() ![]()

The only way to be sure Anthomyia procellaris can be added to the German Checklist is.......collecting some male specimen! Johanna |
