The long palpi indicate that this is an Anopheles. There are a number of species which share this colour pattern, and unfortunately I don't have the means to separate them. Pretty creature, but has deadly potential as malaria vector.

Thanks Tony. I'll see if I can find out more on the Australian Anopheles. I have the insect on hand. |
