Hi, i photographed this fly around Salisbury mid-July last year, ~10 mm. Does anybody have a clue as to what species/genus it could be? Thought it was possibly a snail-killing fly?

Apologies, i may post a few over the next few weeks as i clear out a back log....my Diptera ID skills are limited outside those covered in the two Stubbs books.

Thanks

Richard

Quite possibly a snail-killing fly Smile Genus Tetanocera.

Stubb's books are excellent. I wish we'd see more books in the same style. Any takers? Smile
