Hi

* locality - Serra da Estrela - PORTUGAL
* date - 2007.05.06
* size - 2 mm (very small fly)
* habitat - openland
* substrate - giesta?

This fly was caught by net... I haven?t any clue what the family can it be... almost sure, this is a new family for me.

it was in a swarm of flies (caught in final afternoon).

EDIT ---> Title changed from "Mystery fly" to "Simuliidae fly - perhaps Simulius sp."

Simuliidae. Apparently been dead for a while considering the shape of the eyes.

You are so lucky not to be bothered by Simulium! Step outside here in Canada in the next week and you will be attacked by hundreds of blood-thirsty Black Flies - almost impossible to go into the forest.
