Picture taken outside Aberdeen, July 3rd 2013. Checked for Panorpa gemanica on the net and it seems quite similar. However
the fly on the picture I sent seems to have thinner green rings on the back part.

Not Diptera so moved to the other forum...

I am not sure how positively you can identify female Panorpa spp. but I always prefer to give them a wide berth. The wing colour looks too black for germanica but this is just another generalization so it doesn't give you an "identification", just an "indication" Wink
