Hello!

These not so large (10-12 mm) Helophilus occur each spring in our garden (with a small pond) in Ostwestfalen/Germany. Someone told me they are most likely H. trivittatus, but the trivittatus I know from summer are bigger and paler. So what is this one? Pic taken this afternoon. Thanks!

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
