 Syrphidae from Crete. Identified: Melanostoma mellinum

I shot this male syrphid in my garden this morning, in the outskirts of the city of Iraklion, on the island of Crete, in Greece. Size <10mm.

Thanks a lot Dieter! I wish to contribute any (or all?) of these photos to the gallery. I also have them in higher resolution (1024px width). Which one would be more suitable? |
