hi!
last weekend i found this fly on top of the Boubín-mountain at the bohemian forest in czech republik.

it fly arount a viewing tower on top of the mountain and was obviously hill-topping.
my search through the forum showed me resemblance with Cephenemyia stimularor, but i couldn´t find out, if other species of the genus look similar. is my guess right? how can the other species be distinguished?

thank you!
regards, kurt

By the way, Cephenemyiini is now just a tribe in the subfamily Oestrinae.

Oh, and now we are nagging,

it should be ' stimulator' .
Just to be clear to the audience.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
