Could anyone help me with the identification of the two insects which obviously crashed against my window pane at Mechernich (Rhineland, Germany) some days ago if that is possible on the basis of the photo. My apologies for rather a trivial question as I'm still a newcomer.

(I reduced the size of the photo hoping it will appear this time).

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
