This is the volume by Stubbs & Chandler?
It is an introduction to the Diptera covering life histories, collecting methods etc. It is not an identification guide but there are useful keys to larvae
Although its now getting quite old it still has a lot of interesting information packed in its pages.
I don't use it much but I wuld never clear it from my bookshelves
cheers
Adrian

Jorge

I would endorse what Adrian has said. Lots of interesting information and comment, but not an ID guide. I like the list of families at the back with ratings to indicate how difficult they are to identify.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
