Just look at this magnificent creature! Can anyone help me give it a name?

I notice my green eyes has been moved to the Asilidae forum, I suppose that means it is an Asilidae? I had the idea it might be, but was not sure enough to post it directly here. Here's another photo i found in my archive last night which seems to show the same Diptera, taken last year with a compact camera, so the quality is not good, but it shows it in typical Asilidae pose. Thanks in advance for any ideas, Sarah

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol
