Can anyone point me in the right direction? The specimen concerned was collected in a beer trap in 'De Kaaistoep' (Tilburg, The Netherlands); 9-16.VIII.2009. - Shape of abdomen normal (not club-like) - Hook-like setae on mid coxa appear to be absent, but look like there are setae broken off. - No shining black inner projection on mid tibia => NOT F. scalaris - Legs completely black - No special tubercles or brushes on tibiae - No spine- or toothlike process at extreme base of mid basal tarsomere. Did you check on F. vesparia (Meade, 1891)

Thank you both for your reply! I'm totally missing the dense brush of flattened setae at the apex of the fore tibiae which F. monilis should have. According to the key I use (Rozkosny et al. 1997) F. vesparia should have pale tibiae (yellow to reddish brown). The tibiae are more blackish. The genitalia seem to be a rather good match to those of F. vesparia though. And according to the key, this species can be found from V-IX, so mid August should be possible. Jan Willem van Zuijlen |

Could Fannia incisurata be an option?
