femorata is sometimes considered a variety of marginatus. In the UK, specimens do match with femorata but have always been recorded as marginatus. See M Smart 2009 Dipterist Digest vol16 #1 p40. It will be interesting to see how it is treated in the forthcoming 2nd edition of Stubbs and Drake "British Soldierflies and their Allies" Steve |
