UK Fauna: ID Please!

This interesting specimen, with attractively patterned wings, appeared during an insect survey of the cycle track I use for my journeys to and from the town centre. Again, I have to defer to far more knowledgeable people than myself here with respect to this one.

Location: UK, OS Grid Reference SJ499855
Date: 2012-09-05, 12:36 BST
Habitat: Bramble and Thistle patch adjacent to a cluster of Oak trees, with a small brook to the south.

Tephritidae; maybe Xyphosia miliaria (female) -ish.
