Another Pegomya holmgreni female? I have never seen a male, perhaps one will come to your trap?

Thank You Michael ! This is getting more and more interesting. The site with the first one was very dry and hot rocky garden and with this one totally different. Very humid seashore with rotten wood all around. Maybe I should send this photo to Denmark again Smile

My two females of P. holmgreni were caught in a birch forest not far from the shore of Lake Tornatrask in Abisko in July 1995. I would call it a dry forest. The structure of the oviscapt suggests that the larvae live in fungus, which is abundant in Abisko. Other Pegomya species that breed in fungus are very abundant in the birch forests in N . Sweden. The male in Europe (which I have not seen) has yellow/black legs as the female, but Griffiths says that the male in NA has entirely black legs.

Ok, maybe the birch is the common factor of these two locations. I must keep my eyes open as I go trough my malaise material during next three months Smile

I will try to fix the messages this month. We have to make some other configuration changes before software goes out of support at end of year.
