Found at Little Ayre in marshy field..looked very blue to the naked eye,which was partly lost with camera flash.

No clear characters. Maybe Dolichopus caligatus.

Thanks Igor, that would be a new species for here, but not collected so will go down as a Dolichopus sp. for now. Regards Roger |

In the review of Scottish Dollies I did a long time ago D. caligatus is noted as "Usually found in moorland habitats, often at the edge of peaty lochans". which I guess would make it quite at home on Shetland Iain Iain MacGowan |

Plenty of moorland nearby and lochans, so yes Iain it should feel at home here, more so than humans of late with the weather we have had here (anybody from a warm country want to adopt me?
