5mm, Clitheroe UK, 3 July 2012.

This looks like images of N. ephippium. Fauna Eur. says it is absent from Britain, but it is on Peter Chandler's checklist. Have I got this right?

Fauna Europaea has many inaccuracies for many groups, because it is a very hard database to compile data for. When possible, published, peer-reviewed checklists and catalogues should be consulted for accurate distributional data.

I have just received the very sad news that Peter Chandler has died after a fall at home yesterday. I have no other details at the moment. We shall miss him terribly.
