Photos taken in Reading, UK, on 2012-05-11 I initially assumed this was Muscidae but then I noticed the relatively sharp bend in the M vein and now I think it is a Melinda sp (Calliphoridae). Is this correct? tristram attached the following image: ![]() [185.35Kb] |

the sharp bend in the M vein is not typical just of Melinda .... You should check the lower calypters if they are covered with dark hairs or not. If there are dark hairs then it is a Calliphora. On your picture one might assume that there are hairs. Maybe you have the original photo on which this might be better visible.
