This one also got away. 50 metres away from the first one and two days later. I thought it was H. abdominalis at the time, and the photo seems to bear this out. Although the pd side ot the hind tibia is hidden and we have plenty of Phaonia subventa around at the moment, this one has no strong acrostichals and the arista seems virtually bare. Everthing I can see fits the description for H. abdominalis (including the eyes 'densely pale long haired'). I would like to submit both these photos for the gallery if the id can be confirmed.
