Can anyone tell me which species of Syrphidae this is? Alberta, Canada, June 17, 2006. Size 15mm

Hello Louis, Almost, but not quite!  It's a Helophilus allright, but not pendulus. It doesn't occur in Canada!  And because there are more than 30 species of Helophilus in the Nearctic, it's not possible ti ID this from a picture I guess!  Greetings, Greetings, Gerard Pennards |
