 Tachinidae spec - 14th april 2012 Belgium

Hi all, any suggestions for this Tachinid fly put on picture yesterday near Ghent, Belgium? Superficially similar to Ernestia puparum but lacking the typical abdomen coloration  any help is much appreciated. Pieter |

Hi Erikas, in fact a species I was thinking of too, but a specimen I pictured in spring 2009 has the scutellum bicolored with the front half black and only the tip reddish. That specimen was determined by Theo, so I was in no position back then to doubt the ID  http://www.dipter...d_id=20687 But maybe, as then, the 3 post DC bristles do the clinch and the coloration of the scutellum is variable? |
