I have recently returned from co-leading a natural history tour in northern Cyprus. My principal role was as a Botanist but inevitably I could not ignore the insects, with in particular some very interesting looking Diptera. Large numbers of this species were feeding around the flowers of Eucalyptus gomphocephala at Koprulu reservoir on 28 March. The individuals were about 10mm long. Any suggestions as to identity would be greatly appreciated. I do have a specimen.

Many thanks

Alan

Thank you John. It seems that this species is certainly known to occur on Cyprus.

I will try to fix the messages this month. We have to make some other configuration changes before software goes out of support at end of year.
