Chironomini. The tail is at a bad angle. If the tip of the abdomen were not bent down the angle would be good. Can you add a dorsal view of the tip of the abdomen? It's probably near Chironomus. |

That's a ventral shot? I'm not sure what I'm seeing. The thin, curved appendages resemble some Dicrotendipes but the rest doesn't match. Edited by John Carr on 17-03-2012 16:15 |

Now it looks more like Chironomus (Chironomus). There are three layers of appendages inside the outer claspers -- two paired and one median -- and any or all of them might be crucial for ID. |
