Location: Chongwe, Lusaka, Zambia. Habitat: seasonally cut dry grass. Date: 18.08.2011, but similar species seen through visit (August-November) Size: 10-12mm, excluding proboscis. Bears a passing resemblance to some species of Bombylius in the gallery, and Picker, Griffiths and Weaving's Australoechus, but can't seem to find any to match convincingly. all i can say is that it appears to be Australoechus not Bombylius. |
