Can anyone confirm whether this is Anopheles (belated edit - it's not), and perhaps suggest a likely species? Place: Chongwe District, Lusaka, Zambia. Habitat: within house, in low-density residential area with patchwork of farmland and dry scrub. Not Anopheles (whose females have much longer palps). Could be Aedes s.l. but difficult to tell from this photo.

Thanks - palp lenght sounds like it will be much more helpful than uncertain resting angle in future. |
