All-black male anthomyiid; I’m hoping the unusual head profile will identify it. Very short face, greatly protruding mouth-parts, (and very long palps?), very small 3rd antennal segment. Abdomen narrow, almost parallel sides. Hint of two dusted stripes on anterior of thoracic dorsum. Lincoln UK 12th March 2011. Thanks in advance. philporter attached the following image: ![]() [60.35Kb] Edited by philporter on 17-01-2012 21:24 |

Thanks very much for that Erikas. I will check through the key on that basis. I am having problems with the early stages of the key because of lack of experience. Regards Phil Porter |

By checking the key backwards from Egle, I see features that fit this fly and I am convinced it is Egle ciliata, but comments always appreciated. Phil Porter Edited by philporter on 17-01-2012 16:41 |
