Although with my (extremely limited) resources, I cannot find out a great deal about this particular fly, it seemed to remind me inexplicably of the one fly I can identify with some reliability - Coremacera marginata. As that's the closest I've got to a hint of its identity, I'm passing on to you that it's a putative sciomyzid (EDIT: or not remotely.) , in the hope that one of you can tell me where it really belongs. Habitat: flew out of a Hedgerow in low-intensity farmland. Location: Chongwe District, Lusaka Province, Zambia. Date: 10/09/2011 Size: 7mm or thereabouts.
