The second of the many flies which I am dismally incapable of identifying - this one, who I am tentatively suggesting may be a Tabanomorph (Edit - Stratiomyidae - I wasn't wrong!), had the following details: Place: Chongwe District, Lusaka Province, Zambia; Date; 14/09/2011 Habitat: Floundering in a garden pool (slightly previous to this image). EDIT - Having issues posting image. My apologies if this continues. EDIT 2: size - approaching 10mm. Thanks! I had worried this would stagnate in my "unknown" folder for years! Can anyone advise - should I move this to a different part of the forum now that I know the family involved, and if so, how? |
