Hello,

There was a few of these floating not far from the surface of my pond on 15th October, near Lincoln UK. I think they were enjoying the warmth of the sun. Size approx. 10mm. I had adult probable Chaoborus crystallinus male and female this year.

definitely a Chaoborus larva, but without a detailed photo of the head, it is impossible to tell which species.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
