In my hotel room.... looks mighty similar to the drain flies I find in NC USA. Can someone ID this to genus? Species?

Psychodinae. Possibly Clogmia. The key to neotropical Psychodidae requires slide mounts of males even to determine tribe.

This probably is Clogmia albipunctata; as this is the only Clogmia known to occur in South America. Other known representatives of the genus are found in the old world tropics only. Since C. albipunctata is so widespread and abundant there is considerable variation within it. I have examined specimens from Croatia, Costa Rica, Chile and Uganda; and the genitals seem to be rather uniform even though the colours vary slightly. This particular colour variant I have not seen before, though.
