I presume this is a Rhinophoridae of approx. 6mm length, but I seem unable to get to a reasonable determination with the (Dutch) key of Zeegers. Any suggestions for the right name ? From Belgium (Meerdaalwoud near Leuven, 25/5/2002). Thanks, Joris ![]()

Not sure what the problem is with the key, the darkening of the wings had faded, so that might have misled you. In any case, it is a Paykullia maculata. And don't believe Zeegers ! Theo |

Ah, you know, if something doesn't work - blame the tools ! Of course, maybe I should read the whole key, and not only the first sentence in each choice (in this case the second sentence on the height of the jaws). I must admit being surprised this is also Paykullia, the other one I have from the same year and even the one I have from 1994 in my collection have much clearer patterning on the wings. Thanks again, Joris Edited by pjoris on 15-11-2011 12:35 |
