 Hello,

this beautiful black fly was sitting on a meadow on the edge of a forest in Wasungen, Thüringen, Germany (28.05.2011). I suppose it belongs to the Tachinidae?

 Looks like the unusual-looking sarcophagid - Nyctia halterata Smile
Manager of the UK Species Inventory in the Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity at the Natural History Museum, London.
