Hi, One shot only of this but I'm hoping there's enough detail to give a species, I know they are difficult but worth a try. Taken on 5th August on Achillea in my garden near Lincoln UK. I looked at some old threads and Siphona pauciseta male looks possible to me. I had one of the hosts in February, the moth Achlya flavicornis. Very hard to say really ... it is far more likely to be S.geniculata but we can't see tergite 1+2 and get a feel for the colour of the abdomen. From memory, S.pauciseta is very small in size, would have no marginals on T1+2 and the abdomen should be subshining and dominated by orange/yellow. But you are close to areas that have had S.pauciseta records in the UK.

It was very small Chris, if you look through the right side wing you can see a lot of orange colour with a dark central area. I lightened the photo more to show it.. blowave attached the following image: ![]() [97.2Kb] http://cubits.org... |
