Another cutie from the mountains of Madrid. I think this is Phasia but I am unable to name the species. Thans in advance for any help! ![]() Taken on the 21rst August 2011, on the top of a pass feeding on the remaining flowers. Thanks again, Sundew! ![]() Really I cannot tell. I have all these Phasia cuties completely mixed up. Unless somebody can ID one of these common ones for sure and I start working on it, I cannot see myself being able to finally name them ![]() |

Looks like female P.aurigera to me too - unless there is another species down there that I haven't seen yet

Thanks so much, Chris!! These are the species of Phasia found in Spain: Subgenus Phasia: - aurigera - barbifrons - hemiptera - obesa - subcoleoptrata Subgenus Hyalomyia: - mesnili - pandellei - pusilla - truncata - venturii Just in case this helps to rule out most the species and approach a definite ID ![]() |

female Phasia aurigera cannot be mistaken (though very different from male !). So this is correct Theo |
