Hi,
Here is a Croatian syrphidae i found on the island of hvar.
It was just in front of the sea.
I have no idea about the genus, but Christoophe subjest the wing nervation look like a Merodon.

Does someone has a idea? Thanks

The lenth is a little bit smaller than an Eristalis tenax

I really don't know, though the red legs seem characteristic.
I would need to go through scattered literature.
If you find it next time, I hope you can collect it...

I asked a colleage of mine from Serbia, a specialist.
He wrote to me: "Merodon distinctus of authors, but real name will be aurifer Loew. This synonymy is still unpublished."

So, I hope you are happy! And please, send it to the Syrphidae gallery Grin
