And here is one of this fly digging its abdomen into some dry soil, probably gathering some into its "sand chamber" as I described for an as yet unidentified species posted today from the same site: http://www.diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=5&thread_id=41389

I'm pretty sure this is H. velutina unless anyone who know their bombylids thinks different...
