Is it possible to ID this from the photo? I thought it bore some similarities to Mintho rufiventris, with the possible exception of the exact pattern of longitudinal stripes on the thorax. The basal section on the front legs also show a reddish hue

Well, I can see more differences: not so elongated, three instead of two dark vitta on thorax and the silvery abdominal pattern. Latter indicates that it is, in fact, a Sarcophagidae. Theo |

Well, i think it was more 'pushing you in the mud' as we say in dutch, then helping, for IDing Sarcs from pictures is hopeless most of the time but you are welcome Theo |
