A bright yellow fly and a tiny midge, can anyone ID?

For the yellow fly - Beris sp. (Stratiomyidae). maybe clavipes (it also help to state what part of the world these where found in. time of year and habitat also help )Welcome to diptera.info Mark Edited by Mark-uk on 20-07-2011 13:16 |

Hi Mark, thanks for the welcome and the ID ![]() Sorry I should have been a bit more detailed! These were found about a week ago in grassland/meadow in Leicester, England. It was caught in a pitfall trap (I'm collecting insect samples as part of my dissertation) Yours, Sam |

The midge belongs to the Cecidomyiidae. |
