A bright yellow fly and a tiny midge, can anyone ID?

I came across the two flies last week but find find an ID for them that I'm happy with, I'd really appreciate some help if anyone knows.

For the yellow fly - Beris sp. (Stratiomyidae). maybe clavipes

(it also help to state what part of the world these where found in. time of year and habitat also help Smile )

Sorry I should have been a bit more detailed! These were found about a week ago in grassland/meadow in Leicester, England. It was caught in a pitfall trap (I'm collecting insect samples as part of my dissertation)

The midge belongs to the Cecidomyiidae.
