hi flyforum, Last few days some Tachina's on flowers of Solidago in my (new) garden. Obvious is it's size, I found them quite small these Tachina's.(~11-14mm) Is there a visible character for determination of this species? I got more pictures and I'll think I find them later this weekend in my garden. place: Almere buiten 16-07-2011 greeting Robert Robert Heemskerk attached the following image: ![]() [135.13Kb] Greeting, Robert Heemskerk ---- WWW: http://robertheem...ndedag.htm --- |

Thank you Erikas for your reaction. You are sure it is not T magnicornis? Is it easy to tell what makes it T. fera for you? greeting Robert, Greeting, Robert Heemskerk ---- WWW: http://robertheem...ndedag.htm --- |

T. magnicornis is darker in color, with completely black fore tarsi, its male has outer orbital bristles.

Yes, the fore tarsi on this fly are much too pale for magnicornis

Thank you very much for this explination. I understand it except for the ''outer orbital bristles''? These bristles are these next to the inter frontal bristles? Greeting, Robert Heemskerk ---- WWW: http://robertheem...ndedag.htm --- |
