North Wales, coastal sand-dunes. 3rd July 2011. size 12mm approx. This is Exorista. The reddish scutellum and 4 ps dc bristles narrows it down but not sure if its fasciata or larvarum, both are recorded for North Wales. Steve sd attached the following image:  [121.62Kb] |

Yes, definitely Exorista ... possibly larvarum ... though I usually like to check the specimen just to be sure.

After having seen the specimens I'm now going with Exorista fasciata - the facial ridge bristles reach up to the descending parafacials; the dusting on the sides of T3 only reaches about half way; and the cercus doesn't have very rounded edges.
