Tachinid? Fly for ID please

Found near Barnsley, South Yorkshire on the 3rd July. Been suggested that its a Tachinid with possible ID's of Eumea linearicornis , Epicampocera succincta or Lypha dubia but there are question marks about each of these possiblities. Looks like Nemorilla floralis - note the triangular arrangement of bristles on humeral callus (shoulder)

Well, it used to be much commoner than it is now, that's for sure - there are plenty in collections. I have never caught one in the wild but people do send me the occasional specimen now and again ... but they're not common, for sure, and Barnsley might be a nice record - send us the info (date, place, grid reference, observer's name etc.) and we'll database it ![]() PS: gardens do seem to be a favourite habitat - the ones I have been given over the years tend to be from gardens
